August 2007
Greetings to all, From the very onset of 6202 Cycling, we realized the importance of community, and pledged to serve others in the interest of cycling. This was written into our by-laws and agreed upon by all members. As a result, 6202 Cycling Club and the Castle Rock Bicycle Company recently adopted Memmen Ridge Open Space through the Town's Adopt-A-Park Program. We have the vision of transforming the area into a premiere open space area in the center of Town with great hiking and mountain biking trails throughout the site. The time has come to take action on our promise! We are looking for volunteers of all skills and abilities to assist with trail construction and reconstruction at the Community Work Day at Memmen Ridge on Saturday, September 15. In order to jump-start the transformation of this property, 6202 Cycling and the Adopt-A-Park program will be hosting a Community Work Day on Saturday, September 15 from 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m. Volunteers can donate a few hours or the whole day; enjoy free breakfast and lunch and even learn a few cycling tricks and tips. Volunteers can be of all skills and abilities and must be over the age of twelve; the crew leaders will provide tools and training the day of the event. In addition, high school teens looking to fulfill community service hours can do so at this event!! 6202 Cycling is the major sponsor of this event! I strongly encourage everyone to participate by giving as much time as you can. This event will be a success only with your help! As a group we can make a permanent, positive impact on our community! Several of our members were certified as crew leaders earlier this summer, and will lead the work groups. We are also required to provide lunch, so we will need a small group to set-up and coordinate that effort, along with clean up. You must register: Please share the attached flyer with friends/family and register online at www.voutdoors.org. Look for an upcoming announcement regarding a meeting to discuss and work out details for the work day. Thank you, Kevin Klimek, President 6202 Cycling |
